Mount Rogers is the highest natural point in the state of Virginia, reaching an elevation of 5,729 feet (1,746 meters), and is located within the 200,000-acre Mount Rogers National Recreation Area of the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Pete and his family spent many weekends hiking this area, joining the wild ponies that inhabit these peaks and picking wild blueberries along the path from bushes the size of small trees.  It was during these camping experiences Pete expanded his storytelling repertoire with stories of the mountain and inclusion of current events, such as an upcoming Presidential event.
